PNP Intercepted Counterfeit Cigarettes worth P3-M in Pampanga, Nueva Ecija

The Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel has intercepted smuggled counterfeit cigarettes in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija.

In separate Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija, the PNP’s Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) in Region 3 seized more than P3 million worth of counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes. Richard Dimla and Flordeliza Del Prado, two suspects, were apprehended during the operation.

This earlier CIDG agents apprehended Dimla at Don Ignacio Dimson, Dau 2nd, Lubao, Pampanga. Del Prado was apprehended on the day after Dimla was arrested, at Nueva Ecija’s Purok Quezon, Esguerra St. Talavera.

725 reams of Union Red cigarettes, 365 reams of Two Moon cigarettes, 2,196 reams of Fort Red cigarettes, 581 reams of D&B cigarettes, 328 reams of Mighty Green cigarettes, 415 reams of Marvels cigarettes, 104 reams of Marlboro Red cigarettes, 12 reams of Manjhing cigarettes, and 35 reams of RGD cigarettes were captured at Dimla’s posession.

The following items are found in Del Prado’s possession: 464 reams of different cigarettes, marked money, boodle money, and a white Isuzu elf closed van. The two suspects are charged with breaking RA 8293. (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines).

The operation is predicated on President Rodrigo Duterte’s instruction to strengthen the war against counterfeit and smuggled goods in the country, according to PNP-CIDG director M/Gen Albert Ignatius Ferro. Ferro promised that the effort would be strengthened further and that those responsible for the distribution of counterfeit goods would be held accountable.
