Miss Universe Philippines 2021’s Cagayan bet Gianne Asuncion Bows Out Of Pageant, Here’s Why
CAGAYAN – The Miss Universe Philippines Organization said Cagayan Province’s bet Gianne Asuncion will not participate in the competition.
On Sunday, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced the top 50 ladies who will advance to the competition. The selection included fan votes from the casting video, runway challenge, and MUP judges.
Last week, the organization announced that Cebu province’s Steffi Aberasturi, Kapamilya model Maureen Wroblewitz, and Kapuso actress Kisses Delavin were the top 3 for the Runway Challenge. Meanwhile, Wroblewitz, Laguna’s Leren Mae Bautista, and Aberasturi made it to the top of the casting video challenge.
Only 30 candidates will compete on Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night on September 25. The winner will succeed in reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo to compete in the Miss U pageant in December.
One of the best bets in MUP 2021 is Cagayan Province’s beauty Gianne Asuncion. She placed top 15 in the first 4 challenges of the local pageant.
On Tuesday, Gianne Asuncion announced that she tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). According to her team, MUP has decided not to allow her to continue because their pageant activities could harm Gianne’s health
“We, Team Cagayan, agree with this decision as we also put [a] premium on the health and well-being of our delegate above anything else,” the team said.
Meanwhile, in a heartbreaking IG post, Gianne said she found out she had coronavirus and pneumonia but accepted it was more important to take care of herself first. She also expressed her gratitude to those who supported and helped her on her short but fruitful MUP journey.
Gianne Asuncion’s fellow MUP candidates and fans sent messages of encouragement in the comment section. Here are some of their comments from the post:
@beatriceluigigmz: “We love you Gi! Stay strong, I know you are. Praying for your fast recovery sis”
@mauwrob: “Omg! get well soon!”
@alyssageorgiafelix: “Get well soon baby and come back stronger”
