Police Authorities Raided Funeral Using Food Freezer to Store Corpses From Mortuary
The police authorities caught a funeral parlor in Cebu City for using a food freezer to store corpse from morgue.
A funeral parlor in Cebu City has been scolded by the authorities after caught using a chest freezer to store human remains. The funeral allegedly violated the law because the city prohibits the operation of the storage facility.
The surveillance footage caught the disgusting scene inside the funeral homes. The funeral personnel were not wearing personal protective equipment while performing their duties and responsibilities.
The video also shows corpses inside the chest freezer who were suspected as COVID-19 patients. The establishment’s gate is also closed but the police officers found the human remains inside.
“Inutusan natin sila na ibigay ang lahat ng death certificate nang mga naroon sa loob para makita at masuri natin,” Committee on Disaster Management Chairman Coun. Dave Tumulak said.
The funeral owner named SJ Palomar explained that they were using the facility for the temporary storage of the corpses before the schedule of their cremation.
“Ang mga kamag-anak, hindi nakapunta ditto. Pangalawa, naka-quarantine. So nakiusap sila na, ‘Sir, puwede bang i-freezer lang natin? ‘Kasi ang schedule ng cremation, matagal pa,” Palomar said.
Palomar revealed that other funeral parlors are using the mortuary. He is also willing to cooperate with the authorities during the investigation. The establishment is also ready to face the complaints filed against them.
