Online Game Player Kelra Faces 2-Week Suspension Due to Inappropriate Joke To Fellow Players

The professional league player Grant “Kelra” Duane Pillas is facing a 2-week suspension and fines over distasteful remarks towards fellow players.

MPL-Philippines said in a statement that the popular online game player Kelra reportedly violated the rules on sexual harassment and discrimination & denigration after making homophobic and sexist comments to three other players.

The Smart Omega Esports player received negative feedbacks and criticisms after making a distasteful remarks towards Blacklist International duo Danerie James “Wise” Del Rosario and Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna.

Kelra made the offensive comments in a video, which he eventually deleted after receiving criticisms. He released offensive statement against Thai female player Chareeny “Ramella” Ramella of IDoNotSleep.

After receiving massive amount of criticisms online, Pillas has issued a public apology for his offensive remarks and inappropriate joke. He also swore that the incident would never happen again.

Inaamin ko po na ako ay nagkamali at hindi nag isip sa mga maaring mangyari, naging immature at iresponsable ako. Hindi ko po itinatanggi ang isyu, inaamin ko po na di ko nag isip na maaring may mga taong masaktan sa mga salitang nabitawan ko, ako po ay lubos na humihingi ng pasensya sa mga taong nasaktan ko, sa buong LGBTQ+ community at sa lahat ng tao na naapektuhan.”

MPL said that the player would face suspension of two (2) weeks or 14 days starting from the first day of the MPL-Philippines Season 8 Regular Season. The committee will also require all players to attend a training seminar regarding gender sensitivity and sexual harassment awareness.
