Hidilyn Diaz of the Philippines made a historic feat during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for bagging the gold medal, the first, in the history of the country. She won in the 55 kg category of weightlifting placing the world record holder from China in silver. And for this tear, several athletes of the country have bagged several other medals ranging from silver and bronze and surely, a hefty amount of incentives for their hard work and sacrifices await them.

After Hidilyn’s Olympic gold, she is now raking in millions from the government and private companies on top of other rewards. She is now to receive a total of Php 55.5 million in cash with other pledges like houses and lots, lifetime free flights, lifetime free gas, free food, and many other privileges.

If this is how it is done in the country, how about in the other countries? What will be the prizes triumphant athletes of other countries will be receiving?

For the United States, the gold medalist is slated to receive $37,500 or approximately Php 1.9 million, it will be $22,500 or Php 1.1 million, and $15,000 or around Php 755k for the bronze. Apart from the cash, they will also be given other privileges such as health insurance, access to great medical facilities, and college tuition assistance.

For Singapore, they will be giving SGD1M or Php 37 million for those who will get the gold. Unfortunately, no one from the 23 athletes they sent was able to bag a medal.
