DOH Speaks About the COVID-19 Bed Occupancy in PH
DOH – The Department of Health released the list of the 41 areas that are currently under the highest COVID-19 alert.
The COVID-19 cases in the Philippines continue to increase and a greater battle needs to be fought most especially that the Delta variant is present in the country now.
Previously, the Department of Health confirmed local transmissions of the Delta variant, a variant of concern for its higher transmissibility rate. This variant caused the collapse of the healthcare system in India, the country where it was first detected.
Several other nations logged cases of the Delta variant. Some of these countries are the United States, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
In PH, to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 and fight the possible increase in the Delta variant infection, Metro Manila is currently under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until August 20. Several other provinces are also under the strictest quarantine measure.

Currently, the COVID-19 cases trend in the Philippines continue to rise. There are already several hospitals that reached the critical level for COVID-19 patients.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, DOH expressed that more than half of the 37,000 COVID-19 beds in the country is already occupied now. According to the health department, there are 41 are that are currently under the Alert Level 4, the highest COVID-19 alert because of their high health care utilization rate.
According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the data showed point to a rise in the COVID-19 cases. They are urging the local governments and the hospitals to allot the hospitals for severe and critical coronavirus patients.
Vergiere added that asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 and those who are experiencing mild symptoms may be given treatment in smaller health facilities. Here is a list of the 41 areas cited by DOH to be under Alert Level 4 now:
