Here’s the reason of Sharon Cuneta on why she accepted the role of Carmela in “Revirginized”.
SHARON CUNETA – Megastar Sharon Cuneta expects reactions over her “Revirginized” role but this is the reason why she accepted it.
In a previous article, people were truly shocked after hearing Megastar Sharon Cuneta throwing curses in her recent film. Her Carmela role is definitely far from the wholesome roles she did in her previous films. She has always been playing the good and kind characters and her recent project, she played the otherwise. She is still the “bida” but the traits of her newest character is different from all those she has portrayed.

Addressing the reactions it has received, she wanted the people to broaden their minds and be open with some changes, especially to her who is already in the industry for many decades already. Her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan expressed that her recent role reminded him when she did the film ‘Crying Ladies’. He believed that it’s the reinvention his wife had to do to gather more audience.
And now, she finally spoke about the reason on why she accepted this role despite knowing already how people would react. The Megastar revealed that the first time she heard the story, she cried. The story is not just all about the curses or the scenes but the message behind it and the message has touched her heart. The teaser might just show the naughtiness of it but there’s ” tusok sa puso” at the end of it if they’ll only watch the full movie.
“And I said, ‘Tapangan ko nga yung sarili ko,’ sabihin ko, and in my own way, but I’ll try to… do it in my own way. Iyon ang pinakabastos na kaya ko! Pero, ahhm… I think once in a while, when an actor does a movie that is outside of his or her usual genre, na inaabangan ng audience niya at kinasanayan. Then that makes the audience appreciate the other skills of the actor. And then makes the audience miss the usual kind of movies na ginagawa ng artistang yun,” she said.
What she loved about this film is that it gave her the freedom to play a different person way out of her comfort zone. There were scenes that she never believed she would do but she did. She only trusted her director and did her part and the demands of her character for the sake of story-telling and being an actor.
She accepted the challenge and she just only hopes now that she has done justice to it. She also hopes that her supporters will give her a chance and for them to see the core of the film as per report from PEP.
