President Duterte’s Nephew Victimized by Snatchers in Manila
Authorities arrested two (2) snatchers after allegedly snatching the cellphone of President Rodrigo Duterte’s nephew while walking in Manila.
On Legarda Street in Manila, the criminals were caught on camera stealing a man’s cellphone. The accused, who were eventually apprehended, apologized after learning that the victim was most likely President Rodrigo Duterte’s nephew.
At 11 p.m., CCTV footage from Barangay 390 in Manila shows a man walking in Legarda Street on the sidewalk. A trike came to a stop next to the man, and the rider got off to steal the victim’s iPhone.
Even though the victim had a quarrel with the fugitives, he was unable to regain his smartphone. After being part in the violence, Don Bosco Police apprehended suspects Lauro Manlapig and Angelo Maniquez in Tondo on Monday.

Apart from the two “sumpak” or makeshift guns, a cellphone was also taken from the two, according to Police Lieutenant Rowell Robles, commander of the Don Bosco PCP, MPD. The suspects admitted that they stole the smartphone in Mendiola, and they repeated the stealing of the male victim’s phone in Legarda.
When their victim went to the precinct, the two suspects were verified to have been engaged in the snatching of the cellphone. According to Metro Manila police commander Police Major General Vicente Danao Jr., the victim, who is Duterte’s nephew, did not offer a statement.
Duterte’s nephew, according to Danao, was from work and headed home when the snatching incident happen. Danao, who was the former Davao Police chief while Duterte was mayor, claimed the president’s nephew complained and requested if the cellphone could be returned because it was used for work.
Meanwhile, the suspects apologize to the victim. “Humihingi po kami ng tawad sa tao na ‘yun, sa kamag-anak po niya. Kailangan lang po eh sa pamilya, sa pera,” said suspect Manlapig.
“Pasensiya na po talaga, sir. Kasi nasa dilim lang siya tapos dumadaan lang,” Maniquez said.
