Cardboard Sign Causes Massive Crash, Cyclists Injured With Broken Bones

CARDBOARD SIGN CAUSES CRASH – A fan with a cardboard fan sign caused a massive crash during the Tour de France.

The Tour de France is the most important cycling event in the world. Here, 23 teams compete to win the event with 176 cyclists entering the race. That being said, the event has its fair share of loyal fans.

However, one of those fans happened to bring her own cardboard sign that would signal the inevitable demise of the race. As the cyclists approached the peloton, the fan held up his sign and posed for a photo.

Unfortunately, he was too close and caused a massive crash which wiped out more than 20 cyclists. Furthermore, most were left injured with broken bones. According to an article from Cycling news, four-time world time trial champion, Tony Martin, was at the front of the peloton.

But, being at the far side of the road caused him to run into a sign that said “Allez Opi-Omi (Come on Granddad-Granny). This caused the crash that led to cyclist piling up on each other.

Meanwhile, authorities stated that the fan who caused the wreckage left the scene before investigators arrived.

The spectator who caused this accident left the scene before the arrival of the investigators. Everything is being done to try and find her. She was wearing glasses and dressed in blue jeans, a red and white striped sweater, and a waxed yellow jacket.

Sadly, the crash caused riders such as Jasha Sütterlin of Team DSM to leave the race. Moreover, others are expected to forego competing due to injuries.
