FDA Gathering Data To Study Vaccinated Filipinos Who Still Got COVID-19
FDA GATHERING DATA – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said they would be collecting data on fully vaccinated Filipinos.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the government is pushing its vaccination campaigns. However, due to the fears, a large majority of Filipinos are hesitant to get vaccinated.
But, FDA Director-General Eric Domingo said they are still studying those who did get vaccinated but still had mild symptoms for the virus. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Domingo said:
Kino-collate namin over the weekend itong data natin and we will be presenting it next week. Nakita natin meron naman nagkaroon ng COVID even 2 weeks after the vaccination pero mga mild, walang grabe, walang naospital
Last week, 350 doctors and medical personnel who got fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using Sinovac still got infected. Furthermore, dozens of health workers are now in critical condition even with full vaccinations. As such, experts question the efficacy of the vaccine, particularly against new variants.

As a response to this, Domingo said that vaccines don’t have a 100% efficacy against a virus. “From the start sinabi naman natin ‘yun kaya lang kung magkakasakit kayo most likely it will be something mild and manageable”, added Domingo.
Meanwhile, Domingo stated that vaccines in the government’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign are still effective versus the new Delta Variant. Currently, the Philippines has recorded 17 people who contracted the new variant.
Additionally, there was 1,085 Alpha variant and ,1267 Beta variants had also been detected in the country. On the other hand, more than 8,407,342 COVID-19 jabs have already been administered across the country.
