Manila, Davao City Lowers Flags at Half-Mast to Mourn PNoy’s Death
The city government of Manila and Davao City has lowered their flags and flown at half-mast to express condolences to PNoy’s death.
After former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III (PNoy) died this morning at the age of 61, people of the Philippines including the Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso have expressed their condolences to his family.

According to Yorme, Noynoy, also known as “Pnoy,” was renowned as the country’s leader for driving reforms toward good leadership, which resulted in improved services and fewer potential for corruption. During his presidency, he claimed, the Philippines was acknowledged as Asia’s “fastest-growing economy.”
“PNoy was a pragmatic man who did the best with the cards that life had dealt him. He inspired us with his unexpected humility. May his legacy continue to lead others to the right path, ” Domagoso added.
In this regard, all Philippine flags in the city of Manila were flown at half-mast in honor of the country’s former leader’s passing. Flags were also lowered in Davao City to offer sorrow for the former president.
Flags in Davao City will be flown at half-mast until Aquino is laid to rest, according to the statement. The city government of Davao joins the rest of the country in praying for former President Benigno Aquino III’s ultimate repose.
Davao City is the hometown of incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte, who succeeded Aquino as chief executive in 2016. Former President Aquino is the country’s fifteenth President and served from 2010 to 2016.
