Catriona Gray admitted that her singing style is not “birit”
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray reacted to the bashers of her singing voice as she is not like other singers who can perform “birit” songs.
Before she became the fourth Pinay Miss Universe, Catriona has been doing song covers. After her reign, she pursued her career in music, and being as talented as she is, her fans were not merely pageant fans but also those who are enjoying her singing.
However, there were also those who expressed negative comments against her because she can’t belt. Based on the article in Abante Entertainment, Catriona Gray admitted that she is not a birit queen.
“My style of singing has never been a birit queen. I’ve never been a belter. That’s not my style,” she stressed. This statement came from the story about how she started having interest in music.
She shared that music has been a part of her life since childhood but she never directly dreamed to become a singer. The Fil-Aussie beauty queen admitted that she can’t belt and she thought that is a requirement to be a singer. She said that when she was watching singers on TV performing birit songs, she would tell herself, “I can’t do that”.
Catriona Gray is also not ashamed to admit that she was able to have a recording stint after she won Miss Universe. Because of this, she feels pressured to prove to everyone that she also deserves a spot in the music industry.
“I really do have music in my heart and I really want to pursue it in a proper way as an artist and not just a beauty queen who was given the opportunity to sing. That’s why I’m so meticulous with everything that I do. I’m a bit of a perfectionist,” she said.
