Here’s the latest update on the case that Catriona Gray against Bulagar writer and editor
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray filed a complaint against the Bulgar tabloid writer and editor because of a malicious article against her and here is the latest update regarding this matter.
To recall, in September 2020, Catriona filed libel complaints against contributing writer Melba Llanera and Bulgar entertainment editor Janice Navida after an article was released showing a fake malicious photo of the beauty queen.
Following the complaint that Catriona filed, the editor stressed in a statement that they are not the enemy of the beauty queen. Navida said that they even helped Catriona cleared her name regarding the fake photo that circulated online.
However, the fourth Pinay Miss Universe continued the legal battle. Based on the article in PEP, the Bulgar editor and writer are now facing libel cases against them.
In a resolution signed by Assistant City Prosecutor Jerome Christopher Feria of the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office that was released on March 11, it was stated that the investigators saw a “probable cause” for the libel case to be filed against Llanera and Navida.
“In view of the presence of all the elements of libel, this Office finds probable cause to indict not only the author/writer, respondent Melba Llanera, but also the entertainment editor of Bulgar, respondent Janice Navida, for violation of Libel under the Revised Penal Code,” a portion of the resolution stated.
It was also stated that the writer is not just responsible for the malicious article about Catriona Gray. The editor, as well as the business manager, should be responsible also after the article was published.
