What will Pres. Duterte Do After His Term as President Ends
DUTERTE – As his term as president is about to end in 2022, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed his plan after it.
In the Philippines, a single term of a president is composed of six (6) years. Last 2016, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, a former mayor of Davao City, won the presidential race and his campaign focused on eradicating drugs and corruption in the country.
Prior to becoming president of the country, the Chief Executive has served the people of Davao City for over 20 years. The current mayor of the city is presidential daughter Sara Duterte.
There are speculations that Mayor Inday Sara Duterte might run for president in the 2022 Elections. The Davao City Mayor previously denied it and stressed that she has no intention to take on the presidential race. However, rumors that she’s running became even stronger now.
As for Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, he is vocal that he is not in favor of the idea about Mayor Sara Duterte running for president in the 2022 Elections. He admits that he does not want his daughter to go through what presidents have to go through.
Based on a report in ABS-CBN. speaking at SMNI, the President revealed that he flew to Davao City and talked to his daughter convincing her not to run for president. According to him, the only thing that the position can offer is the “sense of fulfillment” to have served the Filipino people.
“Aside from that, it’s an empty…puro ka na lang tabaho dyan. Now unless magtakbo ka ng Presidente, tapos mangurakot ka, you’ll become a billionaire or millionaire whichever you want… Kung sobra-sobrang pera, aanhin mo naman iyon?” the Chief Executive expressed.
Based on the report, as for him, Pres. Duterte wants to retire from politics after his term as president ends in 2022. He has no more plans to run for any position and he just wants to go home to Davao.
The President also expressed that he might be a boarder at the prayer mountain of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. He described it as a beautiful place. He also mentioned that he will possibly stay in the house given to him by the pastor as a gift.
