Collision Between Bus and Ambulance Left 8 Injured in EDSA-Shaw
Eight (8) people were injured after a bus collided collided with an ambulance in EDSA-Shaw in Mandaluyong City, Friday night.
The ambulance was in the ordinary lane when it abruptly entered the bus lane, where the EDSA Carousel bus was approaching, according to Bong Nebrija, chief of the MMDA-EDSA special traffic and transport zone division. As a result of the collision, the bus collided with the ambulance and flipped on the road.
The ambulance flipped, and the bus, which had 15 passengers on board, collided with an MRT pole on the EDSA tunnel’s center island. The vehicle slammed into a section of the center island, which was damaged.
Six passengers, as well as the bus driver and conductor, were hurt. The injured were sent to Mandaluyong Medical Center, where they are now undergoing treatment. One of them, according to the official, is in a critical condition.
Kritikal sa kanilya ‘yung pasahero na … well, apparently nung pagka-hit, eh tumilapon sa labas. Inabutan namin po siya sa kalsada,” said Nebrija.
The bus driver was also said to be stuck behind the wheel. There were no patients in the ambulance. The ambulance driver was adamant about not giving a statement.
Investigators also declined to offer an interview because the accident is still being investigated. He explained that there are no CCTV cameras in that section of EDSA because the MMDA only removes them for maintenance.
