John Lloyd Cruz Sitcom Project On TV5 Canceled, Here’s What Happened

What happened to the supposed TV5 project of John Lloyd Cruz?

A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz was offered to do a sitcom on TV5 but this project did not push through because of this reason.

Fans have been waiting for the showbiz comeback of Lloydie since he filed an indefinite leave of absence back in 2017. Late last year, the actor was spotted with Brightlight Productions owner Albee Benitez, the biggest blocktimer on TV5.

This sparked speculation that negotiations for a possible TV project for the actor were already being done. In December of 2020, the producer shared that his company was also negotiating with the camp of Bea Alonzo for a possible reunion project with Lloydie. At that time, Benitez said that nothing was concrete yet regarding this plan.

Based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, during an interview with MTRCB Chair Rachel Arenas, John Lloyd Cruz said that there was really a plan for a sitcom but this did not materialize.

It was said that this sitcom project under Brightlight Productions was not given a timeslot on TV5. An insider revealed that the timeslot was not worked out properly. Direk Bobot Mortiz was the supposed director of the sitcom.

Meanwhile, John Lloyd is set to have his TV comeback on GMA-7 through the Shopee event that is being produced by Willie Revillame’s production company.

The Wowowin host also shared that his production company is working on a sitcom that will feature the tandem of John Lloyd Cruz and Andrea Torres.

The announcement of Kuya Wil regarding the projects lining up for the A-list actor came after photos of them together with Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina and Direk Bobot Mortiz surfaced online.
