FILIPINOS GRANTED HIGHER PRIORITY – More Filipinos are prioritized in the COVID-19 vaccination in the Philippines due to upcoming events.

Currently, COVID-19 vaccination programs are ongoing across the globe. Most countries and territories are in the pursuit to achieve the herd immunity in the nearest time possible.

New variants of the coronavirus disease were detected in different countries and several nations experienced another spike in the cases. In the Philippines, the total cases recently had a spike and it went beyond the 1 million mark already.

The authorities continue to urge the people to observe the health protocols to fight the spread of COVID-19. The whole nation is still under community quarantine measures as the vaccination continues.

The A1 or the top priority in the vaccination ladder are the healthcare workers, they are the frontliners in the fight against the pandemic. Many doctors, nurses, and medical staff have already been vaccinated. There are different brands of COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in the country – Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer.

The A2 and A3 categories in the ladder are composed of the senior citizens and those who have comorbidities. A lot of people under these categories were also vaccinated already.

The national government is eyeing to start the vaccination of the essential workers under the A4 category and the poor Filipinos under the A5 category by June. Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, due to several upcoming events, many Filipinos are granted a higher priority in the COVID-19 vaccination.

Among the Filipinos who are granted a higher priority in the COVID-19 vaccination program are the players, coaches, officials, and those who will be participating in the Tokyo Olympics and SEA Games. Based on the report, the Palace also gave the go signal for them to start their training under the health and safety guidelines set.

Frontline employees of several firms and fields will also be prioritized in the vaccination program. Here is a list of those are granted a higher priority:

  • Tokyo Olympics & SEA Games players, coaches, officials
  • BPO Industry Frontline Employees
  • Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Frontline Employees
  • Dealers and Retailers of LPG Industry

Reportedly, the frontline employees of COMELEC and the BPO industry and the dealers and retailers of the LPG businesses will be part of the A4 category.
