Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a 101-year-old woman in Leyte recently got vaccinated against COVID-19. Identified as Lola Luz Montejo, Sevilla, she has contracted coronavirus before and recovered from it.

According to the granddaughter-in-law of Lola Lucing, Maurin Mae Dolina, it was last January when the 101-year-old woman contracted COVID-19 from a family member. The said family was unaware of being positive for coronavirus.

Based on the report, the family of Lola Lucing had initial hesitations in getting her vaccinated because of her age and the possible side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, for the family, the benefits outweighed the risks so they decided to have the senior citizen vaccinated.

The family of Lola Lucing also want to help promote the COVID-19 vaccination. Truths be told that many people are hesitant to be vaccinated in the fears of the side effects. Currently, over three (3) million shots were administered by the government.

The national government is planning to start the vaccination of the essential workers and the poor Filipinos by June. They comprise the categories A4 and A5 of the vaccination ladder.
