Philippines’ delegate Rabiya Mateo was caught on camera doing this during the recently-concluded Miss Universe pageant.
On May 16 (May 17 in PH), the pageant finals was held in Florida. Pinoy pageant fans from around the globe showed support for the Ilongga beauty queen.
Many Filipinos have been waiting to see her performance, especially during the finals. However, aside from her much-awaited “hala bira walk”, people have also noticed this particular instant during the pageant night.
Rabiya Mateo was seen changing her blocking because Miss Spain was covering her. In every pageant, especially in the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world, every contestant must follow a particular order onstage. There is a certain place where a contestant should be when the presentation starts.
However, the Filipina beauty queen was seen changing her position while host Olivia Culpo was speaking. Based on the article in PEP, a netizen uploaded this video in which Rabiya change her spot because Miss Spain was covering her from the camera.
This went viral and received funny reactions from netizens. “Sinakop mo na kami ng 300 years, pati ba naman sa exposure mananakop ka din?” Twitter user @quentinkei2000 commented in jest.
Apparently, Rabiya Mateo was not the only Miss Universe contestant who did that. A netizen also shared a video showing Miss Ireland did an effort to be seen onscreen while host Mario Lopez was speaking. “HAHAHAHAH IRELAND! EXPOSURE,” Twitter user @sebbbyyyy wrote in the caption of the post.
