New York Governor Says Masks Not Required For Vaccinated Residents
MASKS NOT REQUIRED – Despite the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention’s new guidelines, vaccinated residents of New York can go in public without a face mask.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, basic safety precautions such as face masks have become part of our daily lives. However, as more and more people start getting vaccinated, some places are slowly lifting basic health protocols.
But, the CDC warned that the state should keep its face mask mandate to prevent being too complacent. Currently, New York has vaccinated 52% of adults in the city. Meanwhile, more than 61.8% got at least one shot as of Monday.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, the governor said:
“I’m sure when people are coming into Radio City Music Hall, they are going to ask, ‘I’m sitting next to someone. I don’t know who they are. Are you sure they were vaccinated?…
That’s why it’s on the operator’s best interest to say ‘Yes! They had a card and they were checked when they walked in the door“
Meanwhile, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said he would lift the mask mandate outdoors. But, he would require people to wear masks indoors. Furthermore, he said that schools are required to provide full-time, face-to-face classes again in the fall.
