NCR Plus Officials Target 120K COVID-19 Vaccinations Daily

120K COVID-19 VACCINATIONS DAILY – Herd Immunity is the most sought after target for most countries when it comes to vaccinations.

In the Philippines, among the most affected areas are the provinces under the NCR Plus Bubble. This Includes Manila and four of its adjacent neighboring provinces.

Currently, the number of COVID-19 cases within NCR Plus had been on a decline following stricter quarantine measures. However, new waves could still arise if the protocols get too laxed.

As such, the most effective way to address the issue is by achieving “herd immunity”. However, to reach this, Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez said NCR Plus must have 120 thousand vaccinations daily. During an interview with ABS-CBN, he said:

Sa NCR, ang target po natin, nagkaroon kami ng simulation, 120,000 a day. Ang ating inaakyat ngayong May ay magkaroon tayo ng 2M na vaccination and also at least this coming June, magkaroon tayo ng 4M ang ating ma-vaccinate and July onwards magkakaroon na tayo ng tinatawag na 1M-2M per week na ang ating target

On a larger scale, the national government plans to vaccinate around 70 million adult Filipinos by the end of 2021 to achieve a nationwide herd immunity. So far, the government has used 2.6 million COVID-19 shots in 3,458 vaccination centers.

Meanwhile, Galvez says that they aim to finish their vaccination drive in Metro Manila by November 27, 2021. Furthermore, he says that he expects 7 million vaccine doses to arrive this month with 2.2 million shots from Pfizer from the COVAX facility.

“Sa tala po ng ating datos, 7,753,450 doses ang darating sa May. Ito po ay nangangahulugan na magkakaroon na po tayo ng imbentaryo na 11.7 million”, he said.
