Hospital Wrapped Man Who Died From Accident in Packing Tape Like ‘Mummy’, Family Reacts
A man who died due to an accident has been allegedly wrapped with a packaging tape like a ‘mummy’ in the hospital.
A guy named Merwin Fabrigas has been involved in a road accident at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya last April 30, 2021. He was rushed at the Region II Trauma and Medical Center but passed away on May 1, 2021.
The victim’s family expressed their fury and disappointment after seeing the remains of Merwin wrapped like a ‘mummy’ and treating their loved one as a ‘COVID-19 suspect. The family claims that the hospital allegedly removed the life support although he is still breathing.
“Masakit sa kalooban. Naghahagulgol na lang ako ng iyak doon. Ayaw ko sanang mangyari, nagawa niyong manok ang anak ko. Pero wala silang pakialam imbis na ‘yong anak ko sana sila na mag-asikaso… ganoon pa ang ginawa nila,” Mitchilou Fabrigas Sapipi, victim’s mother said.
Mitchilou lamented that she wanted to see her son breathing but the hospital employees allegedly did not listen. However, the hospital denied the accusations and explained that the victim need to be treated as a COVID patient due to surging cases in Quirino.

“May upsurge ng [COVID-19] cases in Quirino. So we want to safeguard also ang mga taga-Vizcaya. We have to treat it as parang COVID na rin dahil baka mag-infect eh. Baka magkalat ang infection,” Region II Trauma and Medical Center medical director Dr. Napoleon Obaña said.
