Bus Drivers and Conductors Start to Beg For Having No Income Over the Past Few Weeks

Several bus driver and conductors end up begging along the road for having no income over the last few weeks.

The passengers were patiently queueing for EDSA Carousel Bus at Monumento, Caloocan. The commuters are enjoying the free ride at the carousel bus for authorized persons outside of residence or APOR.

However, the free rides causes burden to bus driver and conductors who ended up begging from the commuters. Bus companies stopped the drivers and conductors from reporting to work due to the free ride.

“May mga pamilya din naman kami na nagugutom, kumakain,” displaced employee Edmel Salisad said

A disappointed bus conductor said that the bus employees are already struggling with their finances as the government failed to provide financial assistance for the displaced workers.

“Saan kami kukuha ng pamilya ng kabuhayan namin tapos yung kumpanya naming wala naming suporta sa amin tapos wala namang program samin yung gobyerno na heto aayudahan naming kayo, isipin mo ma’am five weeks na ngayon,” the conductor Philip Elequin said.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has yet to give a statement regarding the sentiments of the drivers and conductors.
