Jeepney Driver Cries While Begging Along Streets of Caloocan Due to Jeepney Ban

A poor jeepney driver cried while begging for food or money along the streets of Caloocan due to ban of public utility vehicles.

Some jeepneys, buses, and other public transport vehicles in areas under General Community Quarantine are still not allowed to operate in compliance with the health protocols. However, the mass transport restriction causes a burden to some drivers.

A 64-year-old driver identified as Lolo Nicanor ended up begging on the streets for over a month since some public jeepneys and other transport vehicles are not allowed to operate yet as a part of the quarantine guidelines.

Lolo Nicanor expressed his disappointment and sentiments while experiencing hardships after his livelihood has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. He is now asking for food or money to feed his family.

The poor driver is struggling financially and physically because the government still prohibits public jeepneys with the route Sangandaan-Divisoria to operate.

“Bale pagnaka-kayod na ako ng bigas dito, binibigay ng mga dumadaang kotse binibigay ko sa kanila (pamilya) pero hirap na ko, anon a katawan ko e, hapo na rin ako kaya walang magagawa ako na lang inaasahan ng mga anak ko,” Nicanor said.
