DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte explained why he needs to tighten the protocols and order the police to arrest those who are wearing face masks improperly.

Currently, there are still threats of the COVID-19 virus in the Philippines. The country even experienced another spike in the cases of coronavirus in the country.

After several days of recording at least 8,000 new cases of COVID-19 daily, the total cases logged in PH has surpassed the 1-million mark. The whole country is still under community quarantine measures now.

The whole Metro Manila is under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). Now, part of the protocols are the wearing of face mask and the practice of social distancing.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently made an order to the Philippine National Police (PNP) over the face mask policy. The Chief Executive told the police to arrest those who are not wearing their face masks properly.

According to the President, there are still a lot of COVID-19 patients in the hospital and the public needs to follow the protocols set in the fight to curb the spread of the disease.

“My orders to the police are, those who are not working their masks properly, in order to protect the public . . . arrest them and detain them,” the Chief Executive said.

Based on the report, Pres. Duterte also told the police to investigate those who will be arrested and detained on why they are not following the protocols. He added that if he will not tighten the protocols, nothing will happen.

The Chief Executive stressed that he is already struggling in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis in the country as the nation is losing the funds in the bank and the people allegedly still continue to move around.
