Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Duterte calling DOH Sec. Duque the “hero” of the COVID-19 fight did not sit well with some senators. Senators Vicente Sotto III and Grace Poe stressed that the real heroes are the frontliners who are risking their lives in the fight.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson did not hold back on his words saying that Pres. Duterte was allegedly referring to “hilo” which means “dizzy” in Filipino. Based on the report, DOH Sec. Duque for his part gave the credit to the healthcare workers who are the frontliners in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Amid the fight against the pandemic. several doctors, nurses, and other medical frontliners contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty. There are also those who lost their lives in treating other people suffering from the virus.

The healthcare workers are the top priority in the vaccination drive. Many of them have already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
