Lapu-Lapu Mayor Junard Chan Asks National Government to Allow Foreign Tourists to Enter Cebu to Province’s Help Tourism
Lapu-Lapu Mayor Junard Chan is pleading the national government to allow the foreign tourists with complete vaccine shots to enter Cebu.
On Tuesday (April 27, 2021), the Lapu-Lapu city Mayor is calling the attention of the government and appealed to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and IATF to allow the entry of foreign tourists in the province.
However, Chain said that the tourists should undergo a COVID-19 test before heading to the Philippines. He also proposed that foreigners should receive complete vaccine first before entry’s approval.

“We are appealing to Secretary (Harry) Roque, (Health) Secretary Francisco Duque III, the IATF head to allow entry of foreigner tourists who are fully vaccinated,” Chan said.
Chan’s appeal has been made to help the recover the tourism in Cebu after the Philippines lost over P400 billion income in 2020, according to Department of Tourism OIC Undersecretary Roberto Alabado III due to the drop in the number of foreign tourists.
“And prior to departure from their point of origin, to have RT-PCR test. So that the tourism industry of Lapu-Lapu City and the province of Cebu will be back,” Chan added.

Alabado also reported that the drastic decrease in the number of foreign tourists in the country affects over 5.7 million jobs in the country’s tourism sector.
