The three employees, identified as Loue Llimit, Fidel Inihao, and Rexor Dulangon, agreed to do community service as a penalty rather than paying the P1,000 fine.

Mayor Junard Chan warned the three that they will face suspension or in extreme cases, termination from service if they were found violating the same protocol, which is failure to wear face masks.

“If you do this again, you will no longer be issued with citation tickets.  I will already order for your suspension next time.  If you do this again for the third time, I’m sorry but you will have to already face dismissal from service.”

The mayor invited the three men, who are assigned to the city’s clearing team under the Solid Waste Management Office, to appear at the Cith Hall after he saw a photo of them not wearing face masks that was sent to his Facebook page.

The photo was taken from a netizen when service vehicle which they boarded halted near a traffic light along M.L. Quezon Highway in Barangay Pusok.

“Please remember that while you are on the streets, you represent the city. You also represent the office of the mayor. And yet, you are the ones violating our policies. That is a shame, a big slap [to our faces].”

The employee admitted their mistake and apologized to Chan, claiming that they came from clearing tree branches in Barangay Soong.

Chan still warned them of suspension should they violate health and safety protocols again, based on the report.
