Elderly Asian Man Dead After 19-Year-Old Teenager Attacked Him
ELDERLY ASIAN MAN DEAD – The family of an 84-year-old man said he’d been a victim of another race-related crime.
According to his family, Vichar Ratanapakdee was famous around his block for his “hour-long walks”. Sadly, during one of these walks, an African American teenager went up to him and shoved him to the ground.
The incident happened back on January 28, 2021. However, the trials for the case have only recently come to fruition. Unfortunately, at that time, Ratanapakdee had never regained consciousness.
Police called his family and said he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Following two days in the hospital, the doctors pronounced the elderly Asian man as dead. However, authorities still have a lack of evidence pointing to anti-Asian sentiments.
But, during the trials for his case, the 19-year-old Antoine Watson pleaded “not guilty” for the crimes of murder. Furthermore, netizens said that the San Francisco District Attorney was being almost sympathetic for Watson.
According to the DA, Watson simply had a “temper tantrum” that day. However, following the assault, Watson went to his car, took his phone, and got pictures of the helpless old man lying on the floor.
This year, the number of hate-related crimes against Asians in the United States has escalated to new highs. Among the most vulnerable are the elderly who are picked on for being easy targets. Moreover, some Filipinos were also targeted for looking “Chinese”.
