DOH Reports Over 971,000 COVID-19 Cases In PH

DOH COVID-19 UPDATE – The Department of Health reported 8,767 new coronavirus infections today, tallying the total number of cases in the PH to 971,000.

However, according to OCTA Research group, the reproduction rate of the virus in the country had lowered to 0.99. But, they warned that the dip is yet to confirm a downtrend. During an interview, OCTA Researcher Guido David said:

Bumaba na ang reproduction number natin. It’s 0.99 in NCR, in fact less than one na siya. Pero ngayon pa lang, medyo unstable pa ang trend. Hindi pa yan patuloy na pagbaba. Di pa yan guarantee na patuloy ang pagbaba ng bilang ng kaso“.

Meanwhile, the DOH said that of the 971,000 reported cases, 107,988 are considered active. Of that number, 96.6% have mid symptoms, 1.3% are asymptomatic, 0.9% are severe, and 0.7% are in critical condition.

On April 22, the DOH reported that 17,138 more patients recovered from the disease. Sadly, there was also 105 new fatalities brining the death toll to 16,370.
