Community Pantry Alleged Red-Tagging, Celebrities Share Sentiments

Famous celebrities share their reactions over the alleged red-tagging on community pantry that became viral.

COMMUNITY PANTRY – With the red-tagging alleged to the community pantries that only aim to help people, famous celebrities react.

The movement that started from Maginhawa Community Pantry is now sprouted and spread across the country. After such has went viral online, othr cities copied and did the same which aims to help other people in dire need and giving the chance to other who may have a little in their hand but wanted to share. However, despite the brotherhood people have shown, it was still red-tagged and associated to some issue.

DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño said Tuesday that community pantries must have permits from their local government as it has already attracted a massive number of people. To some lawmakers, this has accordingly only showed the poor handling of the government in helping the people amid the pandemic. But Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque denied this and just apologized for the delay of the distribution of assistance to the people.

With the issues about red-tagging, former Vice President Jejomar Binay expressed his rage over this. He said in his statement targetting the government, “Is the government so threatened by the idea of people sharing what they have with the poor and hungry that it is now harassing and red-tagging community pantries?”

There were also groups that condemned the red-tagging associated to these community countries which only aims of each cities to help one another. These pantries are made and created by the people to fill the gap of the government’s response over pandemic that impacted the lives of the people.
