ABS-CBN News Channel Stops Airing Chinatown News TV

No more Chinese news program on ABS-CBN News Channel

ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) terminated its partnership with Chinatown News TV after it received a massive amount of criticism online.

The Kapamilya network’s news channel was bashed after it aired a Chinese news program. This came after the heated issue that happened between ABS-CBN reporter Chiara Zambrano and the Chinese navy in the West Philippine Sea.

Netizens rallied behind the Kapamilya network in this issue and aired criticisms against China. However, many Kapamilya supporters were shocked that ANC catered to a Chinese news program. In line with this, News Senior Vice President Ging Reyes explained that it was produced for the Filipino-Chinese community and the network does not discriminate.

However, many netizens expressed on social media that they felt betrayed, and the hashtag “ABS-CBN Tuta Ng China” trended on Twitter.

Following backlash, the ABS-CBN News Channel has decided to stop airing the Chinatown News TV. Based on the article in The Philippine Star, CNTV aired its program on Thursday on its Facebook Page as it was no longer aired on ANC.
