ABS-CBN Tuta Ng China trends on Twitter due to Chinese News on ANC

Netizens talked about the trending hashtag “ABS-CBN Tuta Ng China”

The ABS-CBN Tuta Ng China topped the Twitter trends list on Thursday, April 15, following the airing of Chinatown News on ABS-CBN News Channel.

Many netizens expressed their dismay upon knowing that the news channel of the Kapamilya network catered to the Chinese news program. This came after the viral incident that happened to ABS-CBN reporter Chiara Zambrano when she and her crew were forced to leave the West Philippine Sea by the Chinese navy.

In line with the criticisms against the Kapamilya network, News Senior Vice President Ging Reyes explained why they decided to cater the news program from China stressing that the media company does not promote discrimination.

Reyes also pointed out that the news program is produced by the Filipino-Chinese community. She also said that the network has “editorial control” over the content and with the assurance in the accuracy of Chinese to English translation for subtitles.

Though there were those who supported this statement from the news department executive of the Kapamilya network, still there were a lot of netizens who condemned this.

That is the reason why the hashtag “ABS-CBN Tuta Ng China” became a trending topic on the micro-blogging social media platform. The media company is being accused of conforming to the entity that it has criticized before.

Some netizens said that the effort they showed to support the Kapamilya network just went to waste because of this. There were also those who called ABS-CBN a “traitor”. Here are some of the tweets from netizens regarding this issue.
