Prominent drama actress Aiko Melendez shared that at the age of 6, she learned this important lesson from Diamond Star Maricel Soriano when it comes to their profession.

Aiko had the chance to work with Maricel in the movie Santa Claus Is Coming To Town in 1985. She played the role of the Maricel and William Martinez’s daughter.

In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Aiko recalled the time when she did a scene with the icons in acting. “One time, nakatulala ako, and then nagba-blocking. Siguro na-starstruck ako sa mga kaeksena ko. When it was turn to say my lines, hindi ako read,” she shared.

Maricel said to Aiko, ‘‘Hoy! Bakit nakatulala ka diyan?’ but there was no tone of anger when the latter shared this. The Diamond Star reprimanded the younger actress in a nice way regarding this.

Aiko Melendez was told by the veteran star to memorize not just her lines in the scenes but also the line of her co-stars so that she will know when to say her own lines.

“Yun siguro yung dala-dala ko, yung itinuro niya sa akin na pagiging propesyunal. Na kahit may sakit ka, you have to report sa set, lalo na kapag yung sakit mo kaya mo i-bear,” Aiko shared.

She added that until now she is practicing what she has learned from Maricel Soriano when she was just a child. Aiko also shared that when she had the chance to work again with the Diamond Star in the movie Filipinas in 2003 with an all-star cast under the direction of Joel Lamanagan, she brought that important acting lesson she learned when she was 6 years old.
