Jobless Drivers Now Included in CAMP Tourism Program, According to DOLE
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that jobless drivers may apply for CAMP tourism program for cash aid.
The coronavirus disease affects millions of people all around the world and even took thousands of lives. The respiratory disease does not only affect the public’s health but also caused a negative impact to the country’s economy.
The health crisis affects various industries in the country and left thousands of Filipino people with no job. The Philippine government is already implementing programs to help our fellow countrymen affected by the pandemic.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the drivers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 could apply for COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program or CAMP. The agency aims to provide more benefits to affected residents.
The CAMP tourism program also covers the transportation, which is one of the industries affected by the health crisis. The agency considers the drivers as tour guides for bring tourists to their point of destination.

“Paano ka makapunta sa tourist destination kung walang transportation? Because of that, sinama namin ‘yung mga nawalan ng trabaho na mga driver, ‘yung mga tricycle driver, we even categorized them as tour guides,” Bello said.
