Checkpoint Authorities Arrested a Nun, 2 School Staff After Smuggling Illegal Logs
Authorities manning checkpoint in Cagayan arrested a nun and two (2) school staff after caught smuggling illegal logs in their vehicle.
According to the report of PCapt Jhun Jhun Balisi, chief of PNP Gonzaga to PCol. Ariel Quilang, Provincial Director of the Cagayan Police Provincial Office or CPPO the three arrested was a school driver, school maintenance, and a nun in Brgy. Cabanbanan Sur, Gonzaga, Cagayan.

Arested individual identified as Gerald Suquin, 38, school driver, Edmund Barreto, 47, school maintenance, both working in St Anthony’s Academy. Aside from them Regina Vallejo, 59, nun of Franciscan Apostolic Sister’s assigned to St Anthony’s Academy.
The authorities recovered 52 pieces of sawn wood of various sizes that they were supposed to smuggle aboard a Mitsubishi L300 with a plate number NSO 349. Police searched for the relevant documents but they could not any.
As a result, they were immediately taken to the police station. It is said that the confiscated illegal sawn timber came from the town of Sta Teresita. Three arrested faced with a case related to violation of PD. 705 or illegal logging.
