Here are the reactions of famous personalities over the viral Lugaw issue that Harry Roque just recently addressed.
LUGAW ISSUE – Famous personalities and celebrities have these reactions to the viral video that ignited the “Lugaw is essential” issue.
What has come out as a viral bluff on the internet is the video of a food rider in his encounter with a woman in a checkpoint who apprehended him when he attempted to deliver a “lugaw” to a customer amid the curfew. “Lugaw” or rice porridge to Pinoys is a staple food and for the people, for such food to be considered as “not essential” is something else. The woman in the video showed documents over the rules to be implemented being under ECQ or the enhanced community quarantine and insisted that “lugaw” is not essential. This happened in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

On Wednesday, addressing such an issue, Palace stated that “lugaw” and other food items are essential, thus, delivery must not be hampered. Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said, “Delivery of food items must remain unhampered 24/7. Huwag natin harangin sa checkpoints.”
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez also explained to the Inquirer that is clear in the ECQ guidelines that food deliveries, workers, APORs (authorized persons outside of residences) are exempted from curfew hours. From the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases that “food preparation establishments such as commissaries, restaurants, and eateries” operations are allowed but “limited to take-out and delivery” only.
