US Health Officer Rochelle Walensky Speaks on COVID-19 Cases in the United States

US HEALTH OFFICER ROCHELLE WALENSKY – A top health official in the United States, Rochelle Walensky, admitted that she’s scared following the rise of the COVID-19 cases in the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the biggest problem that a lot of countries and territories are facing now. This disease has shaken several healthcare systems across the globe. Sadly, many people lost their lives after contracting the disease.

One of the countries that is greatly affected by the pandemic is the United States. It recorded the most number of coronavirus cases with over 31 million now. Most of these cases were logged in California.

During the term of former U.S. President Donald Trump, he is vocal of wanting China to pay for the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on reports, the said disease was first recorded in the Chinese nation back in 2019.

Trump has even thrown statements challenging the World Health Organization (WHO) in making an action towards China over the pandemic. Even WHO was alarmed by how fast the coronavirus disease has spread.

It’s more than a year now since several countries outside China recorded their first cases of the disease. The United States is still on a huge battle against the pandemic. Unfortunately, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a spike on the cases recently took place again after several days plateauing.

US health officer Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), admitted that she’s “scared” following the spike in the COVID-19 cases again. According to her, she has a “recurring feeling” of “impending doom”.

“We have so much to look forward to, so much promise and potential of where we are, and so much reason for hope. But right now, I’m scared,” the US health officer said.

Rochelle Walensky who experienced being a frontline physician at Massachussetts General Hospital during the pandemic’s early part expressed the she knows the feeling of standing in a patient’s room as his or her loved ones can’t be there. She asked the people to hold on a little longer as she also want the pandemic to be done.
