30 Residents Staying in a Compound Pleads to Be Transfer at Quarantine Facility

They are calling for the transfer of 30 residents living in a compound in Barangay Palanan in Makati City to a quarantine facility.

Based on the report of ABS-CBN News, they have also been dealing with the disease for two weeks and are worried about its spread in their home. Lacking room for isolation, they set up two camping tents in their garage to accommodate their two older residents.

Three of the families also use the same bathroom. According to Lex Torregoza, one of the residents, eight of them have tested positive for COVID-19 and most of them are asymptomatic.

However, his aunt who also had an infection died on Monday due to cardiac arrest. They even found it difficult to admit her to the hospital when her oxygen level dropped last Friday because no hospital would accept her without a doctor’s referral.

They allegedly received no help from the barangay or local government while in quarantine and only relied on friends to ask for food. They also have their own expense to be able to swab test immediately with a private company but no one is monitoring their daily condition.

Early Friday morning, the Makati City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) went to their house to give a swab test to the remaining untested colleagues. Apart from their compound, the residents of one of their houses next door were also affected. They asked to be isolated so that their area could be disinfected.
