Doctors of Jan Catherine Sy Didn’t See Signs of Disease Brewing
JAN CATHERINE SY – The doctors of Henry Sy Jr.’s daughter who died at 29 years old cited that there were no signs of a disease brewing.
A lot of people were saddened by the sudden demise of Jan Catherine Sy, the granddaughter of the late business tycoon Henry Sy Sr. and the daughter of SM Prime chairman Henry Sy Jr. Their family is known for being one of the wealthiest clans in the Philippines.
Henry Sr., a Filipino-Chinese businessman, was the founder of SM Group which owned many huge businesses in the country. He was the wealthiest man in the Philippines for more than a decade. He died in January 2019.

Henry Sr. was succeeded by his son, Henry Jr. or also called “Big Boy”. The daughter of Big Boy, Jan Catherine, is one of the executive officials in their companies’ real estate arm – the SM Development Corporation.

However, recently, a heartbreaking moment came to the Sy family. Jan passed away at the age of 29 years old. Her sudden passing left his family most especially his parents heartbroken.
Reportedly, Jan Catherine Sy’s cause of death is sepsis, a health condition that refers to the response of the body against an infection but it damages the tissues. A few days before her death, she needed blood and many were quick to answer the family’s call.
However, Jan Catherine Sy’s time has come and she did not survive the bacterial infection. Based on a report on Meaww, the doctors of the 29-year-old SMDC vice president saw “no signs” of an onset of a disease or virus. The highest possibility is “leptospirosis”.
Based on the report, Henry Sy Jr.’s daughter was given strong antibiotics and steroids by the doctors in the pursuit to save her. The SM Prime chairman is grateful to the doctors for their efforts to save his daughter’s life.
