PH Gov’t Imposes Stricter Policy on Mass & Religious Gatherings Under GCQ Areas

The Philippine government has tightened the measures on mass and religious gatherings under general community quarantine areas.

On Friday (March 19, 2021), Malacañang Palace announced that the government would implement stricter rules and regulations when it comes to any forms of mass gatherings in GCQ areas due to the surging cases of the coronavirus disease.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the government would limit the venue capacity from 50 percent down to 30 percent only amid the rising COVID-19 infections. Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition events will be also limited to essential gatherings only.

However, the local government units may decide to increase the venue capacity up to 50 percent under their area of jurisdiction.

Roque is also encouraging the agencies of the national government to set aside the non-critical activities that require mass gatherings.
