NCRPO Chief Sinas Emphasizes No Mass Gathering On Feast Of Ramadan

NCRPO CHIEF SINAS – The former birthday celebrant NCRPO Chief Debold Sinas reminded everyone that no mass gathering is allowed during Eid’l Fitr.

During a press briefing, Sinas stated that he already communicated with Muslim leaders. He added that he reminded them that all mosques should remain closed during the holiday due to quarantine protocols.

According to an article from GMA, Sinas stated:

Every year talagang nagtitipon-tipon ang mga ‘yan. Kaya nga ang ginawa namin, kinausap namin ang mga Imams na based sa directive ng IATF, close pa rin ‘yung malalaking mosques, wala pa rin pagtitipon kasi ‘yun ‘yung policy ng IATF

Moreover, he said that they would prepare to guard mosques to see if the directive of the IATF would be followed. Additionally, the highly criticized chief said Manila police would check open spaces such as Luneta and Quirino Grandstand.

As per the report, Sinas stated he would not send in police into mosques but directed his men to patrol the nearby areas.

Amid the coronavirus quarantine, the government had continuously stressed the importance of social distancing measures, especially during the holidays such as Eid’l Fitr.

Previously, Sinas was criticized for surfacing photos of a gathering during his birthday. Confusion grew as conflicting statements were made by the NCRPO chief regarding the photographs.

He stated that the photos were old photos, next he said that some were edited, afterward he stated that even though there was a large gathering they observed “social distancing”. However, photos say otherwise.
