Caloocan Gov’t Will Jail Violators of Face Mask for 1 Month and Fine Them P5,000

The local government of Caloocan will fine P5,000 and jail for a month for the violators who will be caught not wearing face masks.

The Caloocan government has imposed an ordinance that will charge five thousand pesos and/or one-month imprisonment to anyone who is apprehended twice without wearing or improperly wearing a face mask in the city.

Based on City Ordinance No.0884-2020, the city strictly enforces the use of face masks even in all public places in Caloocan during this pandemic period. The first violation of the ordinance is a fine of P1,000.

Mayor Oscar Malapitan encourages people to observed minimum health standards to help frontliners ease their job amid the rising case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) anew in the city.

“Ngayong tumataas nanaman ang mga kaso ng Covid-19, ipakita natin ang ating pagmamalasakit at pasasalamat sa ating mga frontliners sa pamamagitan ng simpleng pagsusuot ng face mask at face shield at pagsunod sa social distancing. Malaking bagay po ito para sa kanila,” said Mayor Oscar Malapitan.

Meanwhile, active COVID cases continued to swell in the city to 756 as of 5 pm on March 16. As many as 15,693 people have been affected by COVID in the city, of which 14, 434 have recovered and 503 have died.
