This is what Maja Salvador revealed regarding her career
Actress-dancer Maja Salvador made revelations about her ABS-CBN contract, the conversations she had with the network bosses, and the showbiz offers that she received.
Maja has been under the management of Star Magic, the talent management firm of the Kapamilya network for 18 years. Most probably, that was the reason why many were surprised when she announced that she will be doing a show on TV5.
That sparked network transfer speculations and created allegations that she has no “utang na loob” to her home network.
In a recent interview with PEP, Maja Salvador has finally broken her silence on the issues surrounding her decision to accept the offer of Johnny Manahan to do Sunday Noontime Live.
She said that her contract with ABS-CBN expired last July 2020. The network franchised was denied in May of that year and contracts were frozen. In the case of Maja, it reached the time that it expired.
Then came the offer from Mr. M, the man who Maja considers as her “father” in the entertainment industry. She shared that her handler assured her that her name was among the talents who allowed by ABS-CBN to do the blocktimer show on TV5.
In order to make sure of this, the actress-dancer had several virtual meetings with ABS-CBN bosses. So, she said “yes” to Mr. M’s offer to do SNL. After she accepted the musical variety show on TV5, she was offered to do the teleserye originally pitched to Bea Alonzo and the leading man is Richard Gutierrez.
Maja also said “yes” to this. However, along with the offer was the condition that she won’t be able to do SNL. “”Ang sabi ko lang, ‘Nakapag-yes na ako kay Mr. M. Paano naman po yung word of honor ko? Siyempre ayoko naman i-break ang heart ni Mr. M,’” she said.
She stressed that she did not turn down the offer. Maja said that she did not expect that the permission that ABS-CBN gave to her to be part of the blocktimer show will lead to the point that she will totally leave ABS-CBN because she chose SNL.
Since she first said “yes” to Mr. M, Maja honored that and did the TV5 show and while it was still airing, she received an offer to do the series Niña Niño on TV5 with Empoy Marquez.
She added that ABS-CBN bosses knew about this offer. Now, Maja Salvador is a freelancer and she has no exclusive contract in whatever TV network.
When asked if she will is willing to do a project with ABS-CBN, Maja Salvador answered, “Kung may offer po, bakit po hindi?” She also expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN as she appreciates very much what the network has done to her career.
