Rabiya Mateo Hopes To Find Dad In US During Miss Universe Stint
MISS UNIVERSE – Reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo said she hopes to find her father in the US during her Miss Universe stint.
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is still clueless over her father’s whereabouts. Her father Syed Mohammed Abdullah Moqueet Hashmi is an Indian national.
The 24-year-old Ilonga beauty said her dad left without a trace after her mother Christine Mateo gave birth to her and her brother Mokmok. She believes her dad deliberately abandoned them.
Rabiya Mateo said he doesn’t harbor any ill-feeling towards her father in fact she’s hoping she will meet him in the future. Last June, the beauty queen took to her FB account to reach out to her dad.
She uploaded a photo of her as a baby being carried by her dad. In the caption, she vowed she “will continue to be a breadwinner to our family, a good daughter to Mama, and a good role model to Mokmok.”

Rabiya Mateo said the last news she heard about her father is now working as a doctor in Chicago. She said one of the reasons she joined the Miss Universe Philippines was to find him.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the beauty queen said she hopes to see him in the US during her Miss Universe stint. She said “this is my first time I’m gonna be outside of the country. Yes I’m so excited. It’s been my dream to go to US because I really want to see my father.”
Rabiya Mateo said she remains hopeful that she could meet her dad because she knows his name and birthday.
“I’m not closing the book. I feel there’s still hope. And maybe when I’m there I might find him because I have his name, I know his name and his birthday…”
“So maybe I can have a track of where he is if he’s alive or not. Something like that, can I do that kaya. I just want to know if he’s alive or not I’m not even sure if he has an idea that I won Miss Universe-Philippines,” she added.
