During the initial investigation, CCTV footage shows a man approaching holding a bottle with fire. He then throws the bottle, which contains gas and fire, on the roof of the restaurant in Barangay Mojon.
The guard on duty Mangabat confirmed what he saw that night holding a bottle and throwing it at the diner, based on the report. A few hours after the incident, Mangabat was caught but the driver of the motorcycle he was riding remained at-large.
It was found out that the suspect used to be a cook at the restaurant, but due to the pandemic, he was terminated from his position. In the BFP’s interview with the owner of the restaurant, they did not send the suspect back to work because they found out that he was addicted to bad habits.
Mangabat has already been charged with arson. The suspect insisted on apologizing to his employer, but he had no plans to drop the arson case against him.
