Cabinet Revamp Underway: DOJ’s Remulla Says He’s Willing to Move

Remulla Supports Marcos’ Midterm Cabinet Revamp

REMULLA – Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla called the Cabinet overhaul a welcome development, emphasizing the need for trusted and capable leaders in the administration.

Remulla has expressed his willingness to accept a new position within President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration amid the ongoing Cabinet reorganization. In an interview with reporters on Thursday, Remulla confirmed that he had submitted his courtesy resignation, in line with Marcos’ initiative to revamp his Cabinet as he reaches the midpoint of his term.

“That’s normal. This is to give him a free hand,” Remulla explained, adding that the reshuffle aims to create a more results-oriented leadership structure.

When asked about the possibility of being reassigned, Remulla responded affirmatively. “I’m a soldier. I serve the President. I’m at his beck and call and I serve at his pleasure. So I’m OK with it,” he said.

He welcomed the Cabinet changes, stressing that the President needs to work alongside individuals he fully trusts and believes are capable of helping him govern effectively. Remulla highlighted the significance of appointing reliable and competent officials as the administration moves into the latter half of its term.

According to the report, the ongoing reshuffle was also mentioned during a Friday evening interview on One News’ “The Big Story,” where Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro indicated that additional announcements regarding the Cabinet changes are expected by Wednesday. This suggests that more adjustments are likely as the government seeks to strengthen its performance.

At the same time, Jose Rizalino Acuzar, who headed the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), officially stepped down. In his farewell message, Acuzar expressed gratitude to President Marcos for entrusting him with the leadership of the agency over the past two years.

Observers are closely monitoring the changes within the Cabinet, as the administration focuses on improving governance during the remaining years of Marcos’ presidency.
