Lawmakers Urge Public to Strictly Observe Health Protocols Due to Soaring COVID Cases in the Philippines
Filipino senators are urging the public to strictly observe the health protocols due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.
On Monday (March 8, 2021), Senate President Vicente Sotto III is calling out the attention of authorities to strictly implement the quarantine guidelines and safety protocols amid the surging cases of the coronavirus disease over the past few weeks.
The Filipino lawmaker urged the public to follow the guidelines and not to be complacent with the current situation of the country. He also said that it is still not safe to place the entire Philippines under modified general community quarantine.
“Observe all health protocols strictly. Social distance, wearing of mask and face shield when in public, wash your hands. If not important don’t leave home. Regardless of quarantine status,” Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto backs Sotto.
Last weekend, the Department of Health recorded a total of 594,412 COVID-19 cases with 3,276 new infections in the Philippines. The OCTA Research group said COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila increases faster.
Lawmakers including senators Sonny Angara and Panfilo Lacson found the increase COVID-19 cases alarming after many Filipinos let their guard down.
