Young Cyclist in Laguna Died After Hitting Concrete Electricity Post

An 18-year-old cyclist died after he hit a concrete electricity post on the boundary of Laguna and Tagaytay.

In a report of GMA News, the victim was identified as Mark de Sagun. Sagun’s bike allegedly fell into a gutter while they are on their way to Tagaytay that lead him to hit the electricity post.

“Lumusot po siya sa gutter, nataranta po siya. Bumangga po siya sa poste. Nakita po siya nung kasama ko isang tropa, nasa likod niya. Ako po ay nasa unahan. Inintay ko po siya… Pag balik ko po wala nang malay,” his friend JC Bisaya said.

Bisaya added that when they saw Sagun lying beside the pole they got frighten and don’t know what to do. “Gusto lang po namin makarating sa gusto naming puntahan, eh. Sa Tagaytay po. Doon po kami lagi nagba-bike.”

Based on the report, Lovin De Sagun, Mark’s father said he tried to stop his son from leaving that day for their bike ride. The father said that he noticed his son’ bike tires are getting thin.

“Tutol ng apo ako nung aalis nga po siya kaninang madaling araw, pinigilan ko po. Sinabihan ko na ano ‘yung bike nga niyo po, medyo manipis na ‘yung gulong,” De Sagun said.

De Sagun said he was at work when a call ringed his phone to deliver the news about his son’s situation. It has only been two months since Mark got became fond of cycling.
