Policemen Slain in PDEA – QCPD Shootout Were Bemedalled Officers

The two policemen slain in the Commonwealth Avenue shootout between PDEA agents and Quezon City cops was a big loss for the police organization.

The two policemen were identified as Police Corporals Elvin Garado and Lauro de Guzman Jr. They suffered multiple gunshot wounds following the shootout incident at a mall along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

The PNP mourned the deaths of two police officers. The 36-years-old Garado was previously assigned to the Quezon City Police Department in 2015. He was assigned to the District Special Operation Unit of the QCPD in December 2020.

During his career, he has received numerous awards, including the PNP Commendation Medal, the Efficiency Medal, the Heroism Medal, the Police Relations Medal, and the PNP Service Medal.

Meanwhile, de Guzman, 32, was awarded the PNP Commendation Medal, Efficiency Medal, Police Relations Medal, Heroism Medal, Medal of Merit, and Service Medal for his service. He was assigned to QCPD in 2016 and transferred to DSOU in December 2020.

At least four individuals were killed in a shootout between police and drug enforcement agents on Wednesday night. Based on the previous article, the two anti-narcotics operatives were conducting a drug buy-bust operation in the same area.

However, it appeared that it was a “misencounter” between operatives that resulted in three fatalities. The shootout that lasts for almost one hour has brought trauma to residents in the area.
